Caring for someone with cancer
Being a caregiver is an important role. You have the opportunity to give the person you’re caring for the hope and support they need throughout their treatment. From emotional to practical support, there are many ways you can help:
Emotional support
During their treatment journey, just being there for your loved one can have a positive effect on how they cope. You can lend a sympathetic ear, help with decisions big and small, and keep them connected by encouraging fun activities.
Practical support
To help your loved one stay on track with their treatment, you can help schedule appointments, coordinate travel, and prepare the necessary paperwork ahead of time. Your loved one may also need help with day-to-day errands and meal planning.
Medical support
As a caregiver, you can also be a key player on your loved one’s healthcare team. You can help them prepare questions for the doctor ahead of time, take notes during appointments, or monitor their health for side effects during treatment.
