For adults with unresectable Stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose disease has not progressed following concurrent chemoradiation therapy (CRT). See Full Indication »
Lung cancer develops when cells within the lungs become abnormal and begin to grow. As more of these cancerous cells grow, they form tumors. And those tumors can also grow or spread to other areas of the body.
While there are different types of lung cancer, the most common type is non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). There are four main stages of NSCLC. If your doctor has diagnosed you with Stage 3 NSCLC, that means your cancer has not spread beyond the lungs and the nearby lymph nodes.
In the US, nearly 25% of people with NSCLC are diagnosed at Stage 3.
The majority of tumors found in people with Stage 3 are determined to be unresectable, which means the cancer cannot be removed with surgery.
Stage 3 lung cancer is divided into three separate substages: 3A, 3B, and 3C. In all substages, the primary tumor, which is the initial tumor, may have grown or spread to one or more of the following areas:
Lungs
Nerves
Other organs located in the chest
Blood vessels
Chest wall
The differences between each substage are based on the size of the tumor, where it is located, and whether it has spread to the lymph nodes or not.
The primary tumor may have spread to the lymph nodes on the same side of the chest where it started. There may be many tumors of various sizes.
The primary tumor may have spread to the lymph nodes on the same or opposite side of the chest where it started, above the collarbone, or in the space between the lungs. There may be many tumors of various sizes.
The large primary tumor may have grown and spread to lymph nodes on the opposite side of the chest from where it started, above the collarbone, or in the space between the lungs. There are now 2 or more tumors on the same side of the chest. There may be many tumors of various sizes.
The graphic above is simplified to help you better understand the stage of your lung cancer and should not take the place of talking with your treatment team. If you have questions about Stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer, ask your doctor about IMFINZI, download the Doctor Discussion Guide and take it to your next appointment.
IMFINZI is a medicine that may treat certain cancers by working with your immune system. IMFINZI can cause your immune system to attack normal organs and tissues in any area of your body and can affect the way they work. These problems can sometimes become severe or life-threatening and can lead to death. You can have more than one of these problems at the same time. These problems may happen anytime during treatment or even after your treatment has ended.
IMFINZI® (durvalumab) is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with a type of lung cancer called non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). IMFINZI may be used when your NSCLC has not spread outside your chest, cannot be removed by surgery, and has responded or stabilized with initial treatment with chemotherapy that contains platinum, given at the same time as radiation therapy.
It is not known if IMFINZI is safe and effective in children.
Getting medical treatment right away may help keep these problems from becoming more serious. Your healthcare provider will check you for these problems during your treatment with IMFINZI. Your healthcare provider may treat you with corticosteroid or hormone replacement medicines. Your healthcare provider may also need to delay or completely stop treatment with IMFINZI if you have severe side effects.
Before you receive IMFINZI, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:
Females who are able to become pregnant
Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

IMFINZI can cause serious side effects (see above):
The most common side effects in people with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) include cough, feeling tired, inflammation in the lungs, upper respiratory tract infections, shortness of breath, and rash.
Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. These are not all the possible side effects of IMFINZI. Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist for more information.
